The West Meets the East: Day 2

Everyone slept wonderfully in the new tent and woke up well rested.  The boys wanted to do some fishing so we headed out to Lincoln to do some hiking and fishing off the Katagami Highway.  New Hampshire was actually pretty and we were happy to see mountains for the first time in years.  The boys didn't catch any fish, but Kenai sure enjoyed swimming in the river.   We went back to camp for lunch and then headed out to Russels Pond for some more fishing.  Before we left, Tim asked me if we should put the rain fly up.  I informed him that I really wanted to sleep under the starts again, so no way!  Well, while we were at the pond, it started to rain.  It took about 30 minutes to get back to our camp, and by that time everything was soaked.  Whoops!
To make us feel better about the wet tent, we made s'mores with Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.  Oh boy where they so good!!!  While we were getting ready for bed, Carter was being a boy and jumping on his air mattress.  After many times of us telling him to stop it, he was finally put to a halt when all the air suddenly went out of the mattress.  He had actually ripped a 10 inch hole in the thing!  He instantly started crying when he realized that he was now going to have to sleep on the ground.  All he would say between his tears was "At least I still get to sleep in the tent and not outside!"  Well, that kind of made us feel bad for him...
We were all kind of wet that night, but we kept warm with the fly on the tent.  No star gazing for us! :(
