Due for It

Finally.  Kinley was due for it.  We were all due for it.  Good News!!!!  FINALLY!!!!!!  I cant believe I get to type a happy blog, full of positive news.  Ahhhhh.

We had to bump up Kinley's MRI because she was having some worry some symptoms all the sudden.  So we headed to Spokane to get the MRI done.  It is always such a big deal to get that done at SHMC.  Thankfully Addison was able to go to school an extra day that week, so she didn't have to sit at the hospital with us.  Because it was a very long day!  The MRI ended up taking almost 3 hours.  Such a long, and stressful wait, but Kinley handled it like the rock star that she is.  MRI #4 was in the books!

A week later we headed to Missoula where the neurosurgeon from Seattle fly's into to see patients.  Driving to Missoula for the day was so nice compared to making a two day trip to Seattle.  After looking the MRI, the neurosurgeon was incredibly happy with the results.  He said the syrinx in Kinley's spine is finally shrinking.  In fact, it has completely disappeared in the lumbar region already.  So it looks like it is slowly starting from the base of her spine and shrinking from the bottom up.  Oh my gosh, we really really needed this.  The syrinx Kinley had was huge.  If it didn't start to show signs of improving, things were going to need to be done.  What a blessing.  It looks like her brain is starting to herniate down a tad again, which at this time is not a concern since it is still allowing for the fluid to flow.
As soon as we left the doctors office in Missoula, there was a double rainbow as bright as can be shinning down on us.  It was beautiful.  And brought a few happy tears to my eyes.  And not only because it looked like it ended right at Big Dipper!

So, for now we will do another MRI in 6 months to make sure things are still headed in the right direction.  Kinley is showing some signs that her bladder might not be functioning normally due to the syrinx.  Because of this, we are going to be headed back to Missoula shortly to meet with the head Urologist at Seattle to discuss our options there.
At the end of December Kinley will also head to Shriners to have the curve of her spine measured again.  Maybe, just maybe her good luck streak will continue and we will see an improvement in that curve.  How amazing would that be???
